Day three

100 Day Song Challenge

A song that reminds you of a night out. (when was it and where?)

... so many options, there. But I'll go with Smooth. Because I love love love the song, and it WAS out around the time of my high school graduation, when there were nights out.

Also, I quite enjoyed reading this list of beautiful sentences in literature. Only, for you lovelies out there who might end up being UNHAPPY, the last one is by Cassandra Clare. So click only with that in mind.

In other fun news, I was supposed to have left for the mountains for a couple of days with the boy and the boys' parents. (Since my mum and her partner are off camping elsewhere.) Which would have been a thing, I'd have been up in the cool clean air... if the boy hadn't blatantly ignored what I'd told him about when to come pick me up from work, because the main road from that side of the city towards the center, and by extension the bus station, is under repairs and the traffic jam is horrible. No, he showed up twenty minutes later. We saw the bus as it left the bus station, but...
Oh well. Traveling tomorrow in the morning.

Apparently, starting to watch Kill Your Darlings in the middle of reading through the Vampire Academy series, one of them seems very, very lacking. Who'd have thought?

Spoiler: the one lacking does not involve Allen Ginsberg.

(As I said on twitter, this movie will kill me. And then make me rewatch Dead Poets Society, and that'll kill me again.)

Reading things.

Note to self: if [personal profile] adsartha recommends me something to read, just read it.

Currently started Guy Gavriel Kay's Under Heaven and loving the everliving heck out of it. It's beautiful and gorgeous and amazing. And I'm looking forward to where it'll take me next.

On a sort-of related note, because Anna will likely recommend it, too, [personal profile] kittydesade is serializing one of her works online. For details, look there, and enjoy. I certainly plan to!

Things that make me smile wide today:

* Book I used to love as a kid that I still find absolutely fascinating.

* Being able to move, slowly, around my place - without crutches and without having to hop. DUDE, that is awesome.

Ahem. Friday there was no Spanish because it was a social evening, and in a good way.

Finally caught up with the Mentalist. Still love Jane. To bits. The dratsab.

I'd post to sws about just how irked I am with the so called Disney crack... and I realise that if I do, I'd get tagged by each and every single mun playing that. Um. Yeah, no.

Need to write. It was going well last night, not so, or at all, right now. Boo.

Still doing reasonably with both keeping up with stuff, and eating and sleeping. Even though what I really want to do just now is curl with the book until I finish it and/or drift off...

Booking through Thursday

Some people read one book at a time. Some people have a number of them on the go at any given time, perhaps a reading in bed book, a breakfast table book, a bathroom book, and so on, which leads me to…

1. Are you currently reading more than one book?
2. If so, how many books are you currently reading?
3. Is this normal for you?
4. Where do you keep your current reads?

1. Oh yeah!

2. Let's see. Fiddling with Turn Coat (ebook), slowly devouring (yes) Kushiel's Justice (dtv), trying to finish Blood of Amber (ebooks), trying to properly start on Night Watch (ebook), and a couple of more that are technically slow re-reads - Paladin of Souls (dtv) and Paradise Lost (ebook), to name a couple. Six so far? OH WAIT! There's also Ender's Game on my mp3 player. So, seven.

3. Ohyes. Very much so. As a kid, I used to have one (or two) books under my pillow, one on my study desk, and one in the living room/kitchen. Then when I started school, I added one that was for the bus/for school. I am just... used to it this way. Sometimes, I focus on one book more than others, but that doesn't mean I stop the rest. >.>

4. Mmm. 'puters, e-mail (because I do change from work to home to mum's), purse (Paladin of Souls is there), bedside or around the house where convenient, for other dtv books. Obv. the mp3 player. USB drives. Generally, various locations that I can get my hands on easily. >.>

Mmm. Vacation. And mmmm mutual support group for wellness (yeah, including weight loss!) with adsartha and [info]kittydesade!

Big time friends-and-schoolmates-and-some-parents meeting last night. I went like a good piggy kid and socialized. Not counting the I'm-still-tired factor from just staying up late, I had fun - and it was draining. And while I did dutifully dance, we didn't pick the after-dinner location all that well. The music was, in a word, boring.
Still, was far from bad. Just less interesting than it could've been.

Talking about interesting, does anybody see something odd with their adult dragons? Not all of them, just certain breeds. Say, stone, or water...?

Imma going to the post office now, and then, depending if what's there is what I think it is, either sleep or reading!!! If I'm not too quick to reply over AIM or tags, that'll only last until I finish the book, which would possibly be somewhere within the next 12-14 hours. IF it's the Horizon ARC, of course.

Oh, and you guys? You rock. And ILU.

I can has Breaking Dawn too. Finally. (Considering my concentration ability recently, I'll be reading it slow and with pauses. BUT I have it now!)

In other news. I managed to get through King Arthur (the 2004 movie) this week. It had the stuffing to be really really good, but it fell short. Keira Knightley didn't help at all, but it was just put together wrong, while the elements were well constructed of themselves. That said, I cried, close to the end.

Also, having muses who have spouses / significant others / even parents whose PBs get killed on-screen doesn't make watching movies any easier for me. Do I need to get a grip on myself or what?

(Next up, Tristan and Isolde)

Meme time!

"The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;)
5) My additional edit, asterisk those you've partly read

This bit from [info]mbernardi: However the 100 books listed are not the ones published buy the BBC here So I thought I'd use the original.

List under cut. )

Why yes, some of you already know, but I am reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.

And loving it too much!

Considering that I'm battling flu, and more or less on time with my prompts (kinda, I need to do some writing tonight and tomorrow), I'm literally inhaling the books.

The first book was fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. It was very teenager-y, with a good gripping and brief culmination and resolution, and many different interesting things on the road to it.

The second book - I don't think I'd cried so much on a single book for quite a while. I read through the night till I was done - crashing about 7 a.m.

The third book... I think I've not been so close to suffocating, laughing, for a long time, as I have been over the last few pages. Yes, I know trouble is coming and it's going to be a close one (or else I'd know about that already), but by Jove, it's hard to breathe!

Oh yes, I most definitely love the entire bunch! But Edward and Bella totally steal the show from many, many on-screen couples. They have so much to resolve and it doesn't happen off-screen!

I am awed!
